The Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International: Saving gorillas on World Ranger Day

Protecting gorillas every day is a monumental effort that takes coordinated teams of dedicated trackers, anti-poachers, researchers, scientists, and other personnel; it also involves partnerships with local governments and other conservation organizations. Saving gorillas is an important mission, but the value of this work is even more far reaching. It is therefore that The Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International aim to protect this endangered species whose numbers are known to be increasing, and research shows the increase is due to the type of intensive daily protection provided by the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund and the park authorities of Rwanda, Uganda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

After a week of conservation-related activities, Rwanda’s annual gorilla-naming ceremony culminated  on Kwita izina ceremony

This activity of protecting Mountain Gorillas demonstrates the significant investments of time, money, and global attention that are also required for conservation to be successful.  That’s why the Ellen DeGeneres Campus is going to be built for gorilla conservation in Rwanda. This multi-acre, purpose- built campus will be the new home for Karisoke Research Center and house the world-recognized conservation, research, and community activities, as well as expanded laboratories, classrooms for training and public education, meeting spaces, a library and computer lab, an interactive public exhibit, and housing for visiting researchers and students.

Ellen DeGeneres shared experiences at meeting the rare Mountain Gorillas in having vacationed in Rwanda

Conservation takes a community. The mountain gorilla story shows that all of us must be committed to wildlife protection and preservation for the long haul if we want endangered species like gorillas, rhinos, elephants, and tigers to survive.

The Mountain Gorilla is a popular tourist area and the the Mountain Gorilla is endangered species

Once these spectacular animals are gone, they’re gone forever, so the time to act to protect them is RIGHT NOW. When you make conservation a priority today, you help protect vulnerable species for generations to come. I hope we can count on your continued support for the road ahead.

The view expressed are not only of helping Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund but also to raise awareness on protecting this endangered species.
